Almost a record number — how many drones Russia launched at Ukraine last night
On the night of October 18, the Russian occupation army launched a record number of Shahed attack drones into Ukraine — 135 UAVs. Most of them were shot down by air defense, 44 disappeared from radar.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Air Force, starting from 8:00 p.m. on October 17, Russian forces have been attacking Ukraine with Shahed drones and unidentified types of drones from Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
As of 08:30 a.m. on October 18, the radio-technical troops of the Air Force identified and tracked 135 enemy drones.
"Aerial assaults are being countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine," the agency stated.
As a result of the air combat, 80 enemy UAVs were shot down, and air defense was active in 14 regions, in particular:
- Odesa,
- Sumy,
- Cherkasy,
- Kyiv,
- Zhytomyr,
- Kirovohrad,
- Chernihiv,
- Poltava,
- Khmelnytskyi,
- Revne,
- Kharkiv,
- Volyn,
- Vinnytsia.
Another 44 Russian drones were lost, two flew to Belarus, and about 10 of them remain in the airspace of central Ukraine.
In the morning of October 18, explosions were also heard in Kherson. No air raid alert was announced in the city.
In addition, it was loud in Khmelnytskyi region. The Air Force warned of drones flying into the region.
