The situation on the front is the most difficult in eastern Ukraine. The Russians have an advantage in terms of number of people, but they suffer heavy losses.

It was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Polish journalists on Thursday, January 16.

What goes on on the front

As the Head of State noted, Russians brought destruction to Ukraine, but the country was saved, in particular, thanks to the assistance of Poland. The situation on the frontline in eastern Ukraine is currently the most difficult. Everything can change quickly in the midst of hostilities.

"There are moments when the initiative passes from one hand to the other. There are villages that pass from our hands to the enemy’s and vice versa. This is happening. The most difficult situation is in the East, because there is a large concentration of Russian troops and equipment there, and we have fewer forces there today, but they have suffered heavy losses," Zelenskyy noted.

He also added that thanks to technological advances, drones, electronic warfare, and more, the enemy is being contained. However, there is still not enough help, Zelenskyy emphasized. He is convinced that the main problem is not a lack of people, but a shortage of equipment and resources.

As a reminder, the Head of State Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that about 34% of the arms used by the defenders on the front are currently produced in Ukraine. The capacity has been significantly increased and will continue to do so.

The President of Ukraine also said that the Ukrainian army currently has 880,000 soldiers. At the same time, the enemy has more than 600,000 of its military on the territory of Ukraine.
