On Monday, October 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with military leadership of the country. They discussed, in particular, the offensive operation in the Kursk region.

Zelenskyy reported this during an evening speech.

Situation at the front line

"Today, I held the important meeting with Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, Chief of the General Staff Barhylevych, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Umerov. We discussed in detail the situation on the front lines — Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Kharkiv and all others directions," the message says.

Zelenskyy also listened to the reports on the prospects at the front line, the provision and armament and staffing of the Defense Forces brigades. At the same time, they discussed the Kursk operation, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding positions.

He emphasized that the Kursk operation serves a strategic goal — the war should return to the territory from which it came. The President is convinced that this is fair when a buffer zone is created on the territory of the aggressor.

"And the Kursk operation also allowed Ukraine to do more active work on exchanges — to return our soldiers from Russian captivity. Everyone sees this," Zelenskyy added.

Previously, Zelenskyy claimed that Ukraine managed to return almost 4,000 of its citizens from Russian captivity. At the same time, the absolute majority of them require long-term treatment.

And the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that in December he would introduce a new program of basic military training for mobilized people.
