Ukraine has developed its own analog of the Mavic drone
Since June, participants in the Ukrainian government's Brave1 program have been working on an analog of the Chinese Mavic drone. As of now, they have already been created.
This was announced by Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov via his Telegram channel on Tuesday, December 3.
What is known about the development of the Ukrainian Mavic drone
"Three Ukrainian UAVs already meet NATO standards and are operational on the front lines — Linza and Zoom by Frontline, and Shmavik by Reactive Drones," wrote Fedorov.
He explained that these drones are adapted to the realities of warfare. In particular, they feature integrated communication systems resistant to enemy electronic warfare (EW), as well as automatic landing and a "return home" mode.
The minister added that a significant number of components are also made by Ukrainian manufacturers. As of now, Ukraine's defenders are already actively using these drones at the front and are giving great feedback.
"The Mavic drone is widely used on the front lines due to its simplicity, effectiveness, and affordability. However, it is treated as a consumable in military operations, with units sometimes losing up to five of these "birds" daily. Importing Mavics is challenging and costly, making the development of a domestic Ukrainian equivalent a top priority," summarized Fedorov.
In an interview with Reuters, Mykhailo Fedorov said that Ukraine has already started building long-range drones. Their range is up to 1800 kilometers.
We also wrote that last month, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had already developed four types of its own missiles. They are now being tested.
