Russia suffered the greatest losses in December — figure
In December 2024, the Russian invaders suffered their largest losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion — about 48,670 invaders.
This was reported by British intelligence on Tuesday, January 7.
Losses of the Russian occupiers
According to the General Staff of Ukraine, in 2024 the Russians suffered 429,660 losses (killed and wounded). This is significantly more than the 252,940 losses in 2023.
Analysts note that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has suffered more than 790,000 casualties.
"December 2024 was probably the most expensive month of the war for Russia: According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the losses were 48,670. In November 2024, Russian losses were 45,680. December was the sixth month in a row in which Russian troops suffered an increase in total monthly losses," according to a British intelligence report.
In December 2024, the average daily losses of the Russian occupiers reached the highest level for the entire period of the war, as the figure amounted to 1,570 people.
Analysts note that on December 19, 2024, a new war record was set — 2,200 losses in one day.
"Russia is likely to continue to suffer high casualties through January 2025, continuing to attack infantry on several fronts," the analysts added.
As a reminder, on January 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a precision strike on the command post of the 810th Separate Marine Brigade of Russia in the Kursk region.
Also, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the occupiers had lost more than 38 thousand invaders in the Kursk sector.
