Russian defense enterprises are likely using Western-made details for creating "Oreshnik" missiles. Despite sanctions, Russia continues to find ways of obtaining key components for its military needs.

This was reported by the Financial Times.

Western details in "Oreshnik"

The publication writes that the two main Russian institutes that Ukrainian intelligence considers the developers of "Oreshnik" are looking for specialists with experience working on German and Japanese-made metalworking systems.

These are vacancies published by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology and the "Sozvezdiye" concern. As journalists note, this demonstrates that the Russian defense industry continues to depend heavily on foreign technologies that are under sanctions from Western countries.

The Financial Times emphasizes that computerized numerical control systems are critical for the production of the "Oreshnik". Thanks to these systems, factories can process materials with high precision and speed.

The Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology notes in the descriptions of its vacancies that it uses control systems from the Japanese company Fanuc, as well as from German manufacturers Siemens and Heidenhain. These manufacturers specialize in creating control systems for high-precision NPC machines.

The same companies are mentioned in job postings from the "Sozvezdiye" concern, which lists the creation of "automated control and communication systems" for military needs among its areas of activity.

The job postings also indicate that the "Stan" company, which is responsible for creating a Russian analogue of NPC production, also uses details manufactured by the German company Heidenhain.

According to the Financial Times, citing Russian documents, since the beginning of 2024, details worth at least $3 million has been delivered to Russia, which included components manufactured by Heidenhain.

Western parts in Russian weapons

It should be recalled that previously, Ukrainian intelligence reported the finding of Western components in a downed Russian drone. As noted by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, electronics manufactured by companies from the United States, Germany, and Switzerland were found in the drone.

In addition, the head of the charitable foundation Taras Chmut stated that "Oreshnik" cannot be a weighty argument in negotiations with Ukraine. In his opinion, despite its power, the presence of this weapon is not decisive, as it could be in the case of a nuclear arsenal.

Previously, Putin offered to deliver an "experimental" strike with "Oreshnik" on Kyiv at his annual press conference.
