Russia equips Shahed drones with artificial intelligence — danger
Ukrainian Ambassador to the European Union Vsevolod Chentsov said that Russia has begun using artificial intelligence in its Shahed strike drones. This makes them much more difficult to catch with electronic warfare (EW) means.
Chentsov said this during an interview with Politico.
New capabilities of drones
Thanks to AI, drones are able to identify strategic objects independently, such as power plants, and strike even without connecting to the network.
The use of AI makes drones less dependent on operators and external control, which makes them more difficult to detect and neutralize.
Challenges for Ukraine
According to the ambassador, improving drones significantly increases the risk to Ukraine's critical infrastructure. This requires new technological approaches for protection and improving countermeasures.
The Ukrainian side is actively cooperating with international partners to strengthen the protection of its energy and other infrastructure from such threats.
We would like to add that such actions by Russia are another confirmation of its intentions to carry out targeted strikes on civilian and strategic objects, which violates international law.
It should be reminded, that drones of the Security Service of Ukraine blew up an ammunition depot in the Rostov region, which was located at the "Kadamovsk" training ground.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the location of the 810th Separate Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
