Shooting of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers
Lubinets noted that the invaders committed another war crime.
"According to the Prosecutor General's Office, in November, during an assault on Ukrainian positions near the village of Petrivka, Pokrovsk district, Russian troops captured five Ukrainian defenders. They were forced to come out of hiding without weapons, lie down on the ground, and then the soldiers were shot with automatic weapons," he said.
The Ombudsman emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
He sent letters to the UN and the ICRC.
Lubinets added that the international community must act immediately, as such actions by the Russians cannot go unpunished.
As a reminder, in Toretsk, the occupiers deliberately opened fire on civilians who were in an apartment. As a result, there are dead.
Earlier, the invaders shot two Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.
