Erdogan presents his Peace plan for Ukraine — details
Turkish President Recep Erdogan has developed his "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine. He intends to present it at the G20 leaders' meeting in Brazil on November 19-20.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
What Erdogan's "peace plan" offers
As you know, Erdogan's "peace plan" envisages the creation of a demilitarized zone in the eastern part of Donbas and the deployment of international troops there.
In addition, the Turkish president proposes to postpone Ukraine's accession to NATO for at least ten years and provide Kyiv with military supplies as compensation.
"Turkish officials recognize that it will be difficult for Ukraine to accept such a proposal, but they believe that this is the most realistic approach. They will try to postpone the discussion of the fate of the occupied territories in order to focus on ensuring a stable ceasefire", the article says.
The publication also notes that such a formula may appeal to Kyiv's allies, who fear that Ukraine's membership in NATO will lead to a direct conflict with the Kremlin.
According to Bloomberg, Erdogan hopes to persuade Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to take part in peace talks in Istanbul, as he "has reviewed intelligence that suggests Ukraine could lose much more territory over the next few months if the fighting does not stop".
As a reminder, Zelenskyy recently predicted how Ukraine plans to end the war. The fighting should end in 2025 through diplomatic means.
At the same time, Mykhailo Podoliak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that it is dangerous to negotiate with Russia. Peace talks are possible if there are effective mechanisms of pressure.
