In September 2024, Ukrainian forces successfully liberated the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant from Russian occupiers. The operation was challenging, but thanks to careful planning, losses were avoided even under the risk of friendly fire.

This was reported by Oleksii "Molotok" Lovkin, commander of the mortar group Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), in a comment to Novyny.LIVE.

Lovkin said that his group "covered" the stormtroopers by creating a smoke screen and also provided artillery cover at a minimum distance from their fighters.

According to the fighter, despite the risk of casualties, the operation was carried out without losses. The flag of the RDK was then raised on the flagpole of the plant.

At the same time, Mikhail Pavlov, a former Russian prisoner and a surrendered fighter of the Storm-Z unit, said that 18 RDK fighters worked on the cleanup of the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant, and that each room took 2-3 days.

He also added that during the storming of the main buildings, the enemy did not expect such intensity of action. This allowed the RDK fighters to enter from several sides, using mortars and UAVs.

"The storming of the administrative building lasted until the evening, and at 8:30 p.m. negotiations on surrender began. The next morning, the enemy fulfilled the conditions and surrendered without a fight," Pavlov shared the details.

As a reminder, on September 24, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported that the plant in Vovchansk had been cleared and showed a video of the liberation of the aggregate plant from the Russians.

Shortly thereafter, they announced the number of occupants who were captured.

In addition, British intelligence explained how the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Vovchansk affected the occupiers.
