General Christopher Cavoli, the Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces in Europe, has compiled a list of weapons that will help Ukraine in the war against the Russian occupiers. In particular, it includes long-range missiles.

This was reported by CNN on Tuesday, October 8.

Weapons for Ukraine

According to the publication's sources, this list was submitted to Congress early last month and became part of a classified report on the Biden administration's strategy for Ukraine.

CNN reports that the list includes long-range JASSM missiles for F-16 jets, capable of hitting targets up to 370 kilometers away.

Cavoli also included the Link 16 communications system, a data-sharing network used by the United States and NATO. It is designed to provide seamless communication between combat systems and is particularly useful for air and missile defense command and control.

The source stressed that Ukraine has repeatedly requested both JASSM and Link 16.

The US general's list did not specify why the US has not yet provided Ukraine with this assistance. However, according to one of CNN's sources, the most likely reason for the delay in transferring Link 16 is the fear that sensitive U.S. technology could end up in Russian hands.

The source added that the JASSM missiles could be useless to Ukraine if it does not achieve some air superiority.

To recall, Ukraine received ammunition funded by Slovak citizens, who raised over 4 million euros at the start of 2024. In total, 122 tons of ammunition were sent.

The United Kingdom also allocates about $4.5 billion to Ukraine to purchase military weapons from British manufacturers.
