North Korean military personnel sent to support Russia in its war against Ukraine may have already come under fire in the Kursk region.

The head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, reported this via Telegram on Monday, November 4.

DPR troops come under fire in the Kursk region

"The first DPRK troops have already come under fire in the Kursk region," the statement said.

Additionally, the head of the CCD previously stated that Russia is attempting to sow confusion regarding the involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine.

"The Russians’ plans are well known; they are producing videos with Kalmyks, Buryats, and Tuvans, passing them off as North Korean soldiers. Meanwhile, real North Koreans are also being moved within units alongside these nationalities," he said.

According to Kovalenko, Russia aims to blur specifics, spread disinformation, and create an information scale to conduct propaganda efforts against Ukraine.

As a reminder, the GUR recently named the types of weapons that Russia has provided to the DPRK troops. The number of North Korean troops already deployed to the border with Ukraine is also known.

And Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has accurate data on the locations of DPRK troops in Russia and could have preventively attacked them, but there are certain nuances.
