Syrskyi called the US general — what was discussed
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had a phone conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United States General Charles Brown. They discussed the situation on the front in Ukraine.
Oleksandr Syrskyi reported it on Telegram on Thursday, January 16.
The conversation between Syrskyi and Brown
First of all, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expressed his condolences to the American people for the losses caused by the large-scale fires in California. In addition, Syrskyi told his American counterpart about the situation on the front. Heavy fighting is currently taking place in most areas.
"Thanks to the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian military, the enemy’s superior forces failed to achieve their strategic goal in any of the front areas. I am grateful and respectful to our soldiers for their effective combat work during intense fighting," Syrskyi noted.
He also thanked General Brown for the assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine, especially with regard to Air Defence Systems, heavy equipment, artillery shells, and aircraft munitions. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United States assured of further support for Ukraine.
As a reminder, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, delivered a farewell address to the American people. On January 20, he would be officially replaced by Donald Trump as the President of the United States.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that Ukraine was preparing for an upcoming meeting with Donald Trump’s new team. The content and format of the negotiations are currently being discussed, but nothing is known about the timing.
