How many kilometers has the front line been stretched
Oleksander Syrskyi spoke online at a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities chaired by the President of Ukraine. The situation on the front line and the issue of engineering and fortification structures were discussed.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported this via Telegram on Tuesday, December 17.
Syrskyi's report on the situation on the front line
As the Commander-in-Chief noted, Ukrainian defenders are currently conducting active combat operations on a section of the front line with a total length of over 1,170 kilometers. The most difficult situation is currently in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv directions.
"Moreover, the Russian occupiers have significantly increased pressure in the Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Vremiv directions. For the third day, the enemy has been conducting intensive attack operations in the Kursk region in order to oust units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the territory of the Russian Federation. It is actively using units of the North Korean army. North Korean mercenaries have already suffered heavy losses," Syrskyi said.
According to him, engineering and fortification structures are of great importance. Syrskyi emphasized this, addressing representatives of local authorities.
"The construction was divided into three stages. Work is currently underway on the final stage. Within its framework, the Armed Forces are already completing the implementation of the set tasks, needs of the State Special Transport Service to accelerate its work," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
As Syrskyi reported, 21 Regional Military Administrations and contracting organizations are involved in the implementation of tasks for the construction of military engineering and technical fortification structures. He emphasized that the seven regions must step up their work on the construction of fortifications. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also called on the RMA to be more active in their field in terms of the construction of fortifications.
"This is our joint direction of work, and it requires maximum consolidation of efforts — both to deter the enemy attack and to protect Ukrainian land, and above all — to preserve the life of every Ukrainian soldier," Syrskyi emphasized.
As a reminder, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov commented on rumors about a possible Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia.
Military analyst Yevhen Dykyi stated that the administration of Zaporizhzhia is preparing for defense and is equipping fortifications around the settlement.
