More and more foreigners have started coming to Ukraine to see the horrors of war with their own eyes. There are "black tours" to war zones, such as Irpin or Kharkiv.

This was reported by Sarganserländer.

Tours to the places of hostilities in Ukraine

Such trips are offered to foreigners by about a dozen Ukrainian companies, and the tours themselves mostly take place in Kyiv and its suburbs. The cost ranges from 150 to 250 euros. According to Dmytro Nikiforov, co-founder of one of the travel companies, part of the profits go to the army.

A representative of another such company, Svitozar Moiseev, noted that such tours are "not about money, but about memories of the war", and are primarily educational.

In addition, some travel agencies offer to take their clients almost to the war zone for thousands of euros. One of these tourists from the United States came to Kharkiv in July 2024 and told us about his goals.

"I just wanted to see it because I think our life in the West is too comfortable and easy," he said.

The article states that for residents of destroyed Irpin, who still live in constant danger, "war tourism" seems strange.

The head of the National Agency for Tourism Development, Mariana Oleskiv, raises ethical issues of military tourism, so they are preparing special training courses for guides.

Earlier in the article, Novyny.LIVE told whether a vacation in Bukovel is worth the money.

In addition, the tourism industry is developing in a number of regions of Ukraine despite the war. In the first half of 2024, the growth of companies' revenues reached 29% compared to the previous year.
