Georgian Legion statement on rumors of withdrawal from Ukrain
Soldiers of the Georgian National Legion responded to rumors in the media and social media that they were allegedly ready to leave Ukraine. They were supposed to do so to participate in rallies in Georgia.
A statement of the Georgian Legion's position was published on the social network X.
Will the Georgian Legion leave Ukraine?
The statement says that Russian propaganda has recently spread fake claims about the Georgian Legion's intentions to return to Georgia to join the protest.
"We categorically deny these baseless accusations. While we fully support the righteous indignation of the Georgian people over the Georgian government's decision to suspend progress toward EU membership, our fight remains here in Ukraine, where our common enemy is located," commented the Legion soldiers.
The statement also added that they will remain at the front until Ukraine defeats Russia.
"The Georgian Legion has been unwavering in its commitment to Ukraine since 2014 and will continue to resist Russian aggression. Our commitment to the victory of Ukraine is unwavering, and we will remain at the front until this goal is achieved," the soldiers said.
As a reminder, protests have recently resumed in Georgia. Residents of the country oppose the rejection of European integration. The protests have already resulted in detentions, including journalists.
Subsequently, the situation began to escalate as demonstrators began throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at security forces. The security forces, in turn, used water cannons and tear gas.
