Situation at the frontline is tense — General Staff report

Ukraine is in the 999th day of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine. The situation at the front remains tense, with the enemy continuing intense fighting in most areas.

This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via Facebook on Monday, November 18.

Enemy attack on November 17

The enemy is continuously attacking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, using its superiority in manpower and equipment.

Over the past day, 149 combat engagements were recorded. According to the General Staff, yesterday Russian troops launched three missile strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, including one massive missile and air strike. The enemy used 132 missiles and dropped 141 UAVs, conducting 85 air strikes. In addition, the Russian Federation carried out more than 4,700 attacks, including 111 from multiple launch rocket systems, and engaged about 1,699 drones.

The aggressor carried out air strikes in the areas of Zhuravka, Krolevets, Basivka in Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Tsirkuny, Vovchansk, Lozova, Hrushkivka, Stepova Novosilka, Kupiansk in Kharkiv region; Ivanivka, Myrne, Lyman, Zarichne, Siversk, Zakitne, Novomarkove, Toretsk, Druzhba, Dachne, Ulakly, Yelyzavetivka, Kurakhove, Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region.

What is the situation at the front?

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 13 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, one control center, one radar and one electronic warfare station.

In the Kharkiv sector , the enemy attempted to storm the positions of the Defense Forces near Vovchansk and Starytsia four times, actively using bombers.

Ten enemy attacks took place in the Kupiansk sector over the last day. Ukrainian defenders successfully restrained the enemy's offensive near Kucherivka, Kruhlyakivka, Zahryzove and Kolisnykivka.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy tried to break through the defense near Tverdokhlibove, Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, Terny and Cherneshchyna six times.

In the Siverskyi sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one attack near Verkhnekamianske.

In the Kramatorsk sector, one combat engagement was registered in the vicinity of Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy launched three attacks in the direction of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, intensively using bombers.

In the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders repelled 32 enemy assault and offensive attacks in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Yurivka, Hryhorivka, Pustynka and Petrivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 42 attacks. The enemy was most active near Nova Illinka, Berestky, Voznesenka, Sontsivka, Zorya, Maksymilianivka, Dale, Kurakhove, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka and Antonivka.

In the Vremivskyi sector, eight attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions were registered in the areas of Trudove, Novodvorivka, Rivnopillia and Rozdolivka, and the enemy also launched attacks with attack and bombing aircraft against Velyka Novosilka.

The enemy did not conduct any active operations in the Huliaipole sector.

In the Orikhivskyi sector, our troops repelled an attack near Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector , Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to drive Ukrainian units from their positions four times.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy is actively using artillery and aviation from the territory of the Russian Federation in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements.

Kursk operation

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that over the past day, Russian aircraft conducted 26 air strikes with 33 missile launchers on the territory of the Kursk region.

"The operation in the Kursk region continues. Russian aviation continues to raze its villages and towns to the ground. Our soldiers are inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces and actively undermining the enemy's offensive potential in the rear," the report reads.

Losses of the occupiers

Over the past day, the losses of Russian invaders amounted to 1560 people. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also neutralized 15 tanks, 38 armored combat vehicles, 30 artillery systems, 99 operational and tactical UAVs, 112 missiles, 107 vehicles and two units of special equipment.

As a reminder, U.S. President Joe Biden has for the first time authorized Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range U.S. weapons, including ATACMS missiles.

Earlier, we wrote that Ukraine will be able to strike only on the territory of the Kursk region of Russia. First of all, this is a signal to North Korea not to send its troops to fight against Ukraine.
