Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that Russian occupiers exported 180 thousand tons of stolen grain from Mariupol in 2024. According to him, the invaders are using food as an element of aggression.

Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, October 8.

Occupants steal Ukrainian grain

"This year, the enemy has smuggled over 180 thousand tons of stolen Ukrainian grain through the port of Mariupol alone. The temporarily occupied territories are being robbed in order to finance the war of aggression with the stolen money. Undoubtedly, Russian economic terror will be one of the areas of work of the special tribunal on the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine," he said.

Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine is prepared to maintain its significant role as one of the main guarantors of global food security, producing far more food than it consumes.

"That is why we help countries on different continents," the Prime Minister added.

As a reminder, Russian occupiers are forcing Ukrainian schoolchildren in Mariupol to make FPV drones for their army. Students of the 47th school are now forced to design and manufacture drones for the needs of the aggressor.

Also, temporarily occupied cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha in Donetsk region are not ready for the heating season. The overall readiness is estimated at only 60%, so a significant part of the districts will be left without centralized heating.
