Russians damaged dam of Kurakhove reservoir — flood
The Russian army damaged a dam near the village of Stari Terny in the Kurakhove community. The scale of the destruction is currently difficult to assess due to shelling.
This was reported to "Suspilne Donbas" by the head of the Kurakhove city military administration, Roman Padun, on Monday, November 11.
What is known about the shelling of the dam
According to Padun, villages located along the Vovcha River are recording a rise in water.
"We know that water is flowing through villages located near the Terny dam. We cannot confirm the nature of the damage or its criticality. We cannot inspect the dam due to constant shelling as of now," he said.
The head of the Kurakhove CMA added that now the water is approaching the settlements of the Velykonovosilka community.
"We have information that water is flowing in other settlements of the Velykonovosilka community, as the sluices are opened. Then we state that the dam is probably damaged," Padun concluded.
The Kakhovka reservoir within the Zaporizhzhia region has completely become shallow. The reason for this was the Russians' bombing of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station last summer.
Let us recall that in August, Russian troops struck the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant (HPP). Transport on the dam was suspended, due to the attack.
