In addition, in a commentary to Suspilne, the head of the RMA, Volodymyr Artiukh, said that the occupiers first attacked the city using Shaheds that were equipped with shrapnel.

"This weapon is used to kill people, not to destroy objects. This is the first time in Sumy," the official said.

According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers unblocked two victims from an apartment building that had suffered significant damage and handed them over to paramedics.

At the same time, the city council added that in order to address the aftermath of Shahed drone strikes, response centers will open at 8:00 AM in schools No. 15 and No. 2. These centers will accept applications for damaged housing inspections and provide consultations on other important matters. The phone number is: (066) 5437677.

Due to the work of rescuers at the site of the shelling, traffic on Svobody Avenue in Sumy was blocked.

After the shelling, the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region launched a pre-trial investigation into war crimes that caused the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As a reminder, during the latest missile strike, Russians hit three thermal power plants. Two of the damaged facilities have already resumed operations, while one is still out of service.

Due to the attacks on energy facilities, Ukraine has introduced blackout schedules. For example, there will be several rounds of blackouts throughout the day on November 22.
