Night attack with drones and missiles — how many air targets were shot down

On the night of October 15, the Russian occupation army fired attack drones and missiles of various types at Ukraine. As a result of combat operations, the air defense shot down all 12 Shaheds.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

How many air targets were shot down by the Air Defense

This night, the enemy launched:

  • seven surface-to-air guided missiles S-300/400 targeting the Mykolaiv region from temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • two guided air-launched missiles Kh-59 targeting the Chernihiv and Sumy regions from the airspace of Kursk region;
  • 17 attack drones (launch areas: Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk).

"Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attack," the statement said. 

Thus, as a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 12 enemy UAVs were shot down in Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions.

"Four Russian drones were lost in the area, presumably due to active countermeasures by electronic warfare. Another UAV is still in the air. Combat operations are ongoing," the Air Force added. 

As a reminder, the Russian army attacked Mykolaiv with S-300 missiles on the night of October 15. The enemy attack killed one person and injured 16 others.

Previously, on October 14, Russian invaders dropped explosives from a drone on residents of the Kherson region, one person was wounded.
