The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukraine is ready for peace talks. But this is only possible if we go to the borders on February 23, 2022.

Yermak said this in an interview with Dagens industri.

Negotiations with Russia

"Fruitful negotiations are possible only if both sides are willing to stop hostilities. In addition, the situation needs to be returned at least to the state as of February 23, 2022," he said.

Yermak believes that this would be a starting point for further settlement of the war, as part of Ukraine had already been occupied before the full-scale invasion, but Russia is not showing any signs of such readiness.

It is known that Ukraine has previously declared its readiness for negotiations in the event of a return to the 1991 borders. However, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that it is currently impossible to return all the occupied territories by military means.

Earlier, The Washington Post wrote that the White House admitted plans to force Ukraine to negotiate with Russia in the near future.

Adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump, Michael Waltz, said that the team is working closely with Joe Biden's administration on the war in Ukraine.
