The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced the number of drones planned to be produced by the end of 2024. According to him, it is about 1.5 million units.

Denys Shmyhal said this during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, October 1.

Production of drones in Ukraine

"Every day we work with our partners on the increase of the weapon supply and the development of our own defense industry. In 2023, the production of weapons increased threefold: every second ammunition in the combat zone is Ukrainian. By the end of the year, we will produce 1.5 million drones. We not only produce drones, but we are training personnel to manage them," Shmyhal emphasized.

According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers launched an experimental project on the certification of schools for UAV operators. Shmyhal says that clear requirements are being established. It will be easier for trained drone operators to obtain the relevant military specialty.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the security and defense sector was the main priority in the state budget for 2024. According to him, during eight months, more than 57% of general fund expenditures were directed to defense needs.

Next year, the government has earmarked 2.2 trillion hryvnias ($530 million) for this industry, which is 26% of GDP.

The production of weapons in Ukraine tripled in 2023. The country also produces significant amounts of artillery systems and armored vehicles.

Previously, the press officer of the 3rd separate airborne assault brigade Oleksandr Borodin told how long the training of FPV drone operators lasts.
