Russia launched dozens of massive attacks on Ukraine in 2024, claiming lives and damaging critical infrastructure and housing. Ukraine was hit with Iskanders, Kinzhals, Zircons, and drones. Ukrainians now remember the destroyed Okhmatdyt, the funeral of a family in Lviv, and the first intercontinental ballistic missile fired at Dnipro.

On January 2, a rocket attack damaged a residential building in Kyiv. Three people were killed and nearly 50 were injured.
Most of the victims sustained mine-blast injuries. As the residents of the building told Novyny.LIVE, it was difficult to find their way around after the explosion, as it was impossible to leave the building because of the fire and smoke, so people went up to the upper floors and waited for rescuers.
Another high-rise building was damaged in the capital on February 7. The building caught fire from both sides, and hundreds of people were evacuated. Four people died and 40 others were injured.
Several large cities suffered from a massive attack on March 22. On that day, the enemy attacked critical infrastructure facilities.
More than 60 Shaheds and 90 different missiles hit Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi. At the time, experts called it the largest attack on the Ukrainian energy sector.
The attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital can definitely be called a tragic event of the year. On July 8, all Ukrainians experienced shock and pain, especially children.
Hundreds of Kyiv residents and volunteers came to the hospital that day to help clear the rubble.
The doctors couldn't hold back their emotions and addressed the Russians.
In a matter of hours, Ukrainians donated millions to help. The first stages of the hospital's reconstruction have already begun.
On September 4, seven people were killed in a rocket attack in Lviv. Among them was a whole family — a mother and her three daughters. The father miraculously survived. And his tragic loss became a nationwide one.
Sumy region has been subjected to enemy attacks more than once this year. One of the largest occurred on September 19. An airplane bomb hit the Sumy geriatric nursing home, where pensioners were staying. More than 14 people were injured, and one woman was killed.
On November 21, Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile at the Dnipro River. This type of weapon was used for the first time and stirred up a wave of discussion at the global level.
On the night of December 2, a Russian attack targeted Ternopil. An enemy drone hit a residential apartment building, killing one person on the spot and wounding others.
Russia also targeted critical infrastructure facilities on December 13. Most of Ukraine's western regions were under attack by Shahed drones.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack on the energy sector one of the largest during the war. He believes that this is how Putin "wants to negotiate" and terrorizes people.
On the night and morning of December 25, Ukraine again suffered a massive missile and drone attack, which also targeted the energy sector. Scheduled blackouts were introduced across the country.
As we wrote earlier, according to an energy expert, Ukraine wll face blackout schedules until the end of the heating season.
