The Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasingly striking at the defence and industrial base of Russia. Therefore, the Kremlin is trying to protect facilities in the regions bordering Ukraine.

ISW writes about it.

Strengthening Russian Air Defence

Analysts have noted that the Kremlin is taking steps to protect industrial facilities in Russia’s border regions from attacks by Ukraine. On January 23, the Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, met with a group of representatives of the Bryansk Regional Military-Industrial Commission to discuss increasing the production of Air Defence Systems and protecting industrial and government warehouses in the region.

He also visited the Bryansk Chemical Plant, which was recently attacked, to assess the situation. Currently, the plant continues to fulfill orders for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The ISW report says that Ukrainian forces’ attacks on the Russian rear are aimed at the defence industrial base and facilities involved in supplying the Russian army. Therefore, the Kremlin is increasingly interested in strengthening its Air Defence to protect them, as the state of the country’s domestic economy continues to deteriorate.

Earlier, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War explained how Russia is hiding the economic problems caused by the invasion of Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are also recruiting women from different regions to participate in the war against Ukraine.
