Zelenskyy names Ukraine's war expenses in 2024

Ukraine is spending huge amounts of money to defend itself due to a full-scale Russian invasion. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, about $100 billion was spent on the Defense Forces in 2024.

Zelenskyy said this during a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Kyiv.

"We cannot forget the contribution of Ukraine. The war in 2024 cost Ukraine about $100 billion in terms of providing the Defense Forces, of which $40 billion was Ukraine's contribution, $35 billion from the United States and $25 billion from Europe," the President said.

Zelenskyy noted our strength in this union and emphasized that Ukraine is showing what it is contributing. Of course, the biggest contribution is people, but the percentage of money is also significant.

Earlier, we wrote that Zelenskyy gave reasons why at least an invitation to NATO is important for Ukraine. According to him, this will give us a strong position in negotiations with Russia.

He also said that the United States, Hungary, Slovakia, and Germany oppose Ukraine's accession to the Alliance for a number of reasons.

Estonia, on the other hand, supports Ukraine on its path to NATO and the EU and calls for negotiations to begin in the first half of 2025.
