Battles for every building in Toretsk — what is going on there?
It is currently difficult to determine exactly which parts of the city of Toretsk are controlled by Ukrainian troops and which are controlled by the Russian army. This is due to the complicated situation on the battlefield, where fierce fighting continues with the closest possible contact.
This was stated by Anastasia Bobovnikova, spokesperson for the Luhansk operational and tactical group, on the air of the United News channel.
In Toretsk, there are battles for every house and room in it
According to Bobovnikova, fierce battles are being fought in the city for every building, and in some cases, even for individual rooms. Russian forces have established positions in the Ukrainian rear, while Ukrainian units are infiltrating the enemy's rear. As a result, even the operational-tactical command lacks a complete picture of the situation on the frontlines.
Russian forces continue assault operations in the central part of the city, particularly along Druzhby and Vasyl Stus streets. The enemy is attempting to establish control over the Toretsk Coal State Enterprise mine and has been spotted several times on the slag heaps near the mine.
Additionally, heavy fighting is ongoing in the "Zabalka" neighborhood in the southern part of the city, where the enemy is trying to secure positions in residential areas to gain further territorial control.
According to public records of strikes, numerous attacks were recorded in the southern Toretsk area from November 18 to December 8, 2024. Red markers indicate strikes on Russian forces, while blue markers represent strikes on Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The situation in Toretsk remains critical. Fighting continues, and it is difficult to determine the exact front line due to the dynamic nature of the fighting, Bobovnikova emphasized.
As a reminder, Anastasia Bobovnikova recently explained why Russians started using scooters to move around Toretsk.
And the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office reported that Russian troops had shot at civilians.
