POWs shot dead — Prosecutor General’s Office opened investigation
The Russian military has once again shot dead Ukrainian prisoners of war. Law enforcement officials have opened an investigation into the execution of soldiers in Donetsk region.
The Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported it on Telegram on Thursday, January 24.
Execution of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s POWs
The invaders captured six members of the Defence Forces during an assault on their positions in Donetsk region and then shot them dead. The Prosecutor General’s Office emphasized that the killing of POWs is a serious violation of the Geneva Convention and is classified as a serious international crime.
"Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the persons involved in its commission," it is said in the statement.
The Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of the war crime that led to the deaths of people.
