Russia strikes with Kh-59 cruise missile in the night and attack drones — report by Air Defense

On the night of Thursday, October 17, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine. The occupiers fired an Kh-59 guided missile and launched 56 attack drones of an unspecified type.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.

Consequences of the night attack on Ukraine

The military noted that the occupiers launched air targets from the territory of Kursk, Orel and Primorsko-Akhtar regions of the Russian Federation. 

It is emphasized that aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire units of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attack.

"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 22 enemy UAVs were shot down in Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Odesa and Ternopil regions," the statement said.

The Air Force added that five hits were recorded on infrastructure facilities in the frontline regions of Ukraine. Two drones returned to the direction of Belarus, and another 27 enemy drones were lost due to active countermeasures by electronic warfare systems.

Earlier, we reported that on the night of October 17, the Russians again attacked Kyiv with attack drones. All enemy UAVs were detected and shot down, but there is damage from falling debris.

There were also explosions in Odesa during the night. Air defense forces were also operating there.
