Russia launched a nighttime attack — a report by the Air Forces of Ukraine

On the night of Monday, September 30, the Russian army launched a massive attack on the territory of Ukraine, using various types of missiles and strike drones. Most of the targets were successfully intercepted. 

This was reported by the press service of the Air Force of Ukraine on Telegram.

More about the night attack

According to the Air Force, 76 air targets were detected and tracked, including:

  • one ballistic missile "Iskander-m" launched from occupied Crimea;
  • one guided air-to-surface missile x-59/69, launched from temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region;
  • one anti-radiation missile x-31p launched from the airspace over the Black sea;
  • 73 strike drones "Shahed", launched from the areas of Kursk, Yeysk, and Oryol.

The military reports that aviation, air defense missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, and mobile fire unitsof the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attack.

As a result of the air battle, Ukrainian air defense shot down one X-59/69 missile and 67 'Shahed' drones in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions.

"One drone flew towards Belarus, while three were locationally lost in the northern regions of Ukraine due to electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures. One UAV remains in Ukraine's airspace, and combat operations are ongoing," the message states.

Earlier, we reported that explosions were heard in Kyiv on the night of September 30. Air defense was active in the capital. 

An air raid alert in Kyiv due to drones was announced at 01:06 because of the enemy UAVs.
