NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has stated the need to continue to provide assistance to Ukraine. According to him, this will allow Ukraine to be in a stronger position when negotiating with Russia.

Rutte said this during a press conference with Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs.

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

According to Rutte, only the Ukrainian government can decide whether to start negotiations with Russia and how to end the war. At the same time, Ukraine should have a stronger position during the negotiations.

"But they have to do it from a position of strength. That is why we need to continue to deliver defense assistance to Ukraine to allow them to be in a position of strength when they make that decision," he emphasized.

The NATO Secretary General added that Ukraine's path to the Alliance is "irreversible" and a bridge is being built with the allocation of 40 billion euros, the establishment of a command in Wiesbaden, and all the security agreements that the allies have concluded with Ukraine at the bilateral level.

"This is all a contribution to Ukraine's future in NATO," he summarized.

After meeting with Mark Rutte, Polish President Andrzej Duda declared his readiness to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 aircraft. But in return, NATO should redeploy its fighters to Polish air bases.

We also wrote that the United States has allocated $825 million in emergency energy funding to Ukraine. These funds will be used to strengthen generation and repair grids.
