Putin must negotiate — what did Trump threaten Russia with?
Donald Trump claimed that Russian dictator Putin must necessarily sit down at the negotiating table, otherwise, Russia would face increased pressure. The President of the United States also criticized the assistance provided by the EU to Ukraine as insufficient.

Answering journalists’ questions, Trump said he would consider imposing additional sanctions on Russia if Putin does not agree to negotiations.
"We have talked to Zelenskyy. I’m going to talk to Putin very soon, and we’ll see what happens next," Trump said.
Trump claimed that he would "consider" whether the US would send additional arms to Ukraine, referring to Putin’s further behavior. The President of the United States also confirmed that he discussed the war in Ukraine during a recent phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump also criticized the European Union for not spending enough to help defend Ukraine.
As a reminder, Trump ordered to organize phone call with Putin. One of the goals of the conversation would be to discuss a face-to-face meeting in the coming months to try to end the war in Ukraine.
The newly elected President of the United States also commented on his promise to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours.
