Night drone attack — how many drones were destroyed by the Air Defense

On the night of October 22, the Russian occupation army launched 60 Shahed attack drones and drones of unspecified type at Ukraine. Air defense shot down 42 of them, unfortunately, there were some hits.

The ministry said that 60 enemy UAVs were detected in Ukrainian airspace overnight (launch areas: Kursk, Yeysk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — Russia).

"The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine," the statement said.

Thus, the air defense shot down 42 Shaheds in seven regions, in particular in:

  • Sumy,
  • Dnipropetrovsk,
  • Cherkasy,
  • Donetsk,
  • Zaporizhzhia,
  • Kyiv,
  • Kherson,
  • Kharkiv regions.

In addition, the Air Force said that most of the drones were shot down in Sumy region. Nevertheless, there are dead and injured in the region as a result of the Russian attack.

"Additionally, 10 more Russian drones were locally lost. One UAV flew into Belarus, while three returned to Russia. One enemy drone is currently in the airspace of Ukraine," the agency added.

Previously, on the night of October 22, an explosion occurred in Sumy during an air raid alert. As a result of the enemy attack, there were hits on residential buildings and casualties.

The enemy also shelled the Dnipropetrovsk region. Due to the enemy shelling, windows and doors were shattered in two private houses.
