Enrollment of those willing to join the Ukrainian Legion has started in Poland. It is known that 196 applications have already been received.

Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Zalewski reported this on Tuesday, October 8.

Enrollment to the Ukrainian Legion in Poland

Zalewski noted that enrollment to the volunteer Ukrainian legion is actively underway in Lublin, which all citizens of Ukraine can join. As of today, almost 200 people from different parts of Europe have submitted their applications.

"If the first group of several hundred volunteers is formed, we will immediately start their training," he said.

The Deputy Minister of Defense says that Poland has already trained more than 20,000 Ukrainian soldiers as part of the EU training program. Zalewski emphasized that not only Poland, but also all over Europe are willing to join the legion.

"We see a very high interest in this initiative among our citizens. The exact numbers are available from the Ministry of Defense here, but I can say that as of Friday, October 4, the number was 196 people who applied from all over Europe," he said.

It should be reminded that the "Ukrainian Legion" initiative has officially started enrolling new military recruits abroad. It aims to attract Ukrainians who are in other countries to the Defense Forces.

In addition, in Warsaw, Ukrainians once again gathered together to remind the world that thousands of our compatriots are still suffering in Russian captivity. The "Returning Home" campaign was held there in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
