A slap in Putin's face for the anniversary — Ukraine struck the Crimean bridge 2 years ago
The 8th of October 2022 will go down in the history of Ukraine and Russia — it was the day the Security Service of Ukraine successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge. The attack was devastating not only for the structure, but also for Kremlin propaganda.
The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) highlighted this in their statement.
Strike on the Crimean bridge sowed panic in Russia
In their message, SBU recalled the successful attack on the Crimean bridge.
"This bright explosion became a real holiday for all Ukrainians and a slap in the face to Putin's 70th birthday. Since then, the bridge no longer serves as the main logistical artery of the enemy for the supply of military equipment and fuel to the south of Ukraine. And most importantly, the explosion sowed panic and chaos among the occupiers, who for the first time began to flee Crimea en masse," the Security Service said in a statement.
As a reminder, on the morning of October 8, 2022, social media began to report that a fire had broken out on the Crimean bridge connecting Russia and the occupied peninsula.
Later, Russian media reported that a "truck explosion" had occurred on the bridge.
The attack on the bridge caused a massive panic among the population causing long lines in stores, food was rapidly swept off the shelves, while some Russians left the peninsula as far away as possible.
The successful operation sparked a strong reaction among Ukrainians. For example, Monobank released a new card design, and Ukrposhta promised to issue a new postage stamp dedicated to this event.
