French SCALP missiles for Ukrainian army — can they hit Russia?
France reaffirmed its commitment to continue supplying Ukraine with long-range SCALP missiles. However, it should be borne in mind that the number of such missiles is limited.
This was stated in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine by French Ambassador to Ukraine Gael Veyer.
Are there any restrictions on SCALP missile strikes against Russia?
According to the ambassador, although the number of these missiles is limited and the process of acquiring them takes time, France is doing everything possible to support Ukraine.
He also noted that Paris has not imposed any restrictions on Ukraine's use of these weapons, including for strikes on military targets in the Russian Federation.
"Ukraine has the right to target Russian military capabilities, because it is a crazy situation when the Russians can attack Ukraine from Russian territory, and Ukraine cannot eliminate this threat. It would be unfair," Vseyer said.
According to France, the Ukrainian side has the right to target Russian military infrastructures, as this is the only way to counter the threat posed by the possibility of Russian attacks from Russian territory.
Earlier, we wrote that France supports the idea of inviting Ukraine to join NATO. However, the decision to join the new state must be supported by all the countries that are members of the Alliance.
To recap, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the meeting with the French and American leaders was productive. The parties discussed the situation at the front, support for Ukrainians and the achievement of a just peace.
