Belarus deploys troops to the border with Ukraine
Belarus is deploying units of its Armed Forces to the regions bordering Ukraine. In total, at least 1,500 soldiers have been deployed.
This was reported by the Telegram channel Belarusian Hajun on Monday, January 13.
Belarus deploys troops
In December, units of Belarusian troops that had been withdrawn from Ukraine in September-October were reportedly deployed to the regions bordering Ukraine. The soldiers were deployed to the Stolin, Lelchytsk, Mozyr, and Gomel districts of Belarus. These are the following units:
- 11th Separate Mechanized Brigade — to Stolin and Lyelchytsy Districts;
- 120th Separate Mechanized Brigade — on the outskirts of Zyabrovka and Bokov airfields;
- 147th Antiaircraft Missile Regiment — battery of SAM "Osa-AKM" (location unknown).
The exact time of the redeployment is currently unknown. The number of soldiers redeployed to the border can be estimated at approximately 1,500.
Also, special forces units of the internal troops continue to be deployed in the border area.
In addition, it is reported that the units of the Belarusian Armed Forces and the Air Force deployed in the southern regions of Belarus do not currently pose a military threat to Ukraine.
Earlier we wrote that the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, commented on the situation on the Belarusian border. He assured that there was no immediate threat.
As a reminder, territorial defence training exercises have started in Gomel District of Belarus. They will last until January 31.
